Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT)

Cognitive Analytic Therapy

CAT stands for Cognitive Analytic Therapy. It is a collaborative programme of looking at the way you think, feel and act; a programme which is tailored to your individual needs and to your own manageable goals for change. It brings together understandings from cognitive psychotherapies (such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and from psychoanalytic approaches into one integrated, user-friendly and effective therapy. Each session of therapy is tailored to the individual’s needs, taking into account their current situation and problems they’re dealing with. The average duration of cognitive analytic therapy is 16 weeks however depending on the nature of the problem it may increase.
