Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a type of psychotherapeutic aims to understand the thoughts and feelings that influence behaviours and modify the negative thoughts, negative emotions and promote positive behaviour. CBT is commonly used to treat a wide range of disorders, including obsession, phobia, addictions, depression, and anxiety. CBT is a short-term therapy and focused on helping clients deal with a very specific problem. Cognitive behavioural therapy is a combination of psychotherapy and behavioural therapy. In psychotherapy we emphasize the importance of the personal meaning on things and how thinking patterns begin in childhood. In Behavioural therapy we give close attention to the relationship between our problems, our behaviour and our thoughts. There are different forms of CBT: (a) Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy, (b) Cognitive Therapy, (c) Multimodal Therapy, and (d) Dialectical Behaviour Therapy.
