Couples Counselling
The couple counselling is primarily relationship counselling and is a discrete, professional service is a recent phenomenon. In the relationship amongst individuals it is important to accept, acknowledge and recognize. In couple therapy the focus is to focus on three C’s, communication, closeness and commitment each person, including the counsellor, is a unique personality, perception, set of values and history. Thus, individuals in the relationship may have different and unexamined value systems, expectations, and sometimes relationships get strained, resulting in a failure to function optimally and thus produce self-reinforcing, maladaptive patterns. These patterns may be called “negative interaction cycles.” Two methods of couples’s therapy focus primarily on the process of communicating are active listening and proper communication.
